Police looking for witnesses after hour-long car chase

People are appealing for witnesses after the pursuit of a stolen car in Wolverhampton yesterday resulted in a man and two teens being arrested.

The car, which had been stolen in Telford, had been reported to West Mercia Police after driving away without paying for petrol from a garage in the town on Wednesday. West Midlands officers spotted it early yesterday morning as it was being driven erratically in the Bushbury area of Wolverhampton.

After pursuing the car for over an hour, it pulled up in Westcroft Avenue, Wolverhampton and three people got out and ran away. A man was detained by a police dog, but two youths made off on foot through back gardens, jumping over high fences. They were chased by officers, who caught one as he tried to get away and then the other who was found trying to hide under a piece of plaster board in a garden.

A man age 34 and two boys age 17 have been arrested on suspicion of theft of a car.

Anyone with information about this car theft is asked to contact 101 giving reference 2421 of 27th December.
