Local people are being asked to rate their local parks and open spaces in a bid to identify what improvements can be made.

Dudley Council has launched an online survey asking local residents to comment on the borough’s public open spaces.

The survey takes only a few minutes to complete and asks people how much they value open spaces, which areas they visit most often, A picture of Councillor Karen Shakespearehow they get there and how they rate certain facilities such as parks, playing fields, natural green space areas, allotments, and children’s play areas.

This information will be used to gain a greater understanding of what people want from their green and open spaces and to identify what can be done to improve them for the benefit of all residents. Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for environmental services, said:

"We want to encourage everyone to lead healthier and more active lives so it’s really important we provide quality outdoor recreational spaces where people of all ages can enjoy all sorts of activities, whether that’s walking the dog, cycling or having a kick about with the kids.

"This survey will help us to understand what people would like to see in our open spaces and tell us what we need to do to improve them and encourage more people to make the most of the facilities on their doorstep.

"People’s thoughts and comments are really important to us and I would therefore encourage everyone to spare a few minutes and complete the survey.”

The survey is available online and people have until 5pm on October 24 to complete it.
