Coombeswood Canal Trust are set to hold an open weekend at their Hawne Basin premises on May 11th and 12th.

Bosses are finalising arrangements for the bi-annual event, which is free to attend and held to showcase the work of the trust and the local waterway to the community.

For canal enthusiasts, the former Grand Union working boats ATLAS and MALUS will be on display. The pair of boats, a motor and butty, are used during the summer months for the provision of Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award training scheme bringing young people to the waterways.

There will be a host of other activities too, including craft demonstrations, live music and activities for children. There will be a burger bar and other refreshments available ranging from ice cream to real ale.

Doors open at 10am and close at 4pm at Hawne Basin, situated in Chancel Way at the top of Hereward Rise in Halesowen.
