Red House Cone to host Christmas Tree Festival

Wordsley’s Red House Glass Cone will be hosting its first ever Christmas tree festival this December.

Individuals, schools, businesses, groups, charities and organisations are being invited to provide a tree, decorated in the manner that best represents them.

Trees can be real, artificial or something in the ‘shape’ of a tree. The only stipulation is that they can be no taller than 5 feet.  The cone will provide electricity for one set of lights but battery operated lights are welcome.

Visitors to the site will be able to view the trees, find out a bit about their owners and generally get into the festive spirit. It’s free to take part, but those involved and visitors are welcome to make a donation to the Mayor’s charities at one of several donation points on site. Those set to benefit are Dudley Mind, The YMCA and Dudley Alzheimer’s Society.

The festival will run from Saturday 18th November to Sunday 7th January. Those wanting to find out more or to take part should call 01384 815571 or email julie.edmonds@dudley.gov.uk Applications should be made by Sunday 5 November. Cllr Dave Tyler, Mayor of Dudley said:

“The Christmas Tree Festival is a delightful idea and will enhance the experience of visitors to the cone. I’m really grateful that the cone has chosen to support my charities as part of it’s first Christmas tree festival and I look forward to seeing all the creative designs when I visit the site in December.”

The Red House Glass Cone, High Street, Wordsley, is open 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday and 11am to 4pm at the weekends. The cone will be closed 24 December until 3 January 2018.  Admission is free.
