Resurfacing Work In Amblecote

Motorists are being reminded about potential delays during essential work in Amblecote which will mean the High Street is made temporarily one way.

Dudley Council has opted to resurface the A491 High Street during the school holidays to minimise disruption for motorists.

The road will be made one way towards the ring road between Collis Street and St John’s Road, during the work which will also be carried out in off-peak hours, 9.30am-3.30pm, to help keep congestion to a minimum.

Work will be carried out July 25-29 and July 31. There will also be work from August 1-3 as well as August 7 and 14. Councillor Hilary Bills, cabinet member for environmental services, said:

“This is essential work to make sure the road condition is acceptable to drive on. We have requests throughout the year to repair the roads and as a community council we are listening.

“As you’d expect there will be a certain amount of disruption for people travelling through that area, but we are doing everything we can to minimise disruption for people wherever possible.”

Diversion will be in place for northbound traffic via Bath Road, Enville Street, Bridgnorth Road, High Street, Wollaston and Wollaston Road.

Last year the council received around £9million from the Department for Transport’s Challenge Fund towards repairing major roads over a three-year period.
