Revolver found after armed police stop car in West Bromwich

This revolver was seized by our officers today as the police crackdown on gun crime in the West Midlands continues.

Acting on intelligence, firearms officers pulled over a car on Hollyhedge Road in West Bromwich at around 3am yesterday. Inside the Mercedes the gun, a baton and a number of knives were recovered.

Three men, aged 18, 22 and 23, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and remain in police custody. DCI Ronan Tyrer, from the Regional Organised Crime Unit, which is leading the investigation, said:

“This is a great recovery and shows our determination to tackle gun crime around the clock. Guns cause untold misery in communities.

"It’s vital that people who have information on those who use or have access to guns give us the information we need so that we can continue to bring criminals to justice.”

West Midlands Police is taking part in a national firearms surrender, which ends on Saturday 4th August and are encouraging members of the public to hand in any firearms, including guns, ammunition, stun guns and pepper spray to local police stations.
