Pensnett High Street is set to reopen early next month as a £6.3 million road improvement scheme nears completion.

The re-opening of High Street follows 12 months of work on this major project. Finishing touches to Tansey Green and Corbyns Hall Lane will take place in early June.

The night time surfacing works are scheduled on the nights 21 to 25May between 7.30pm and 5am. 

On 21, 22 and 23 May, High Oak will be operating one way, northbound, with a potential short term closure required after midnight on 21 only.  The full road closure after midnight will be from Tiled House Lane with access to frontages only and the diversion will be Bryce Road, Bromley Lane, Stream Rd and A4101.  Diversion from High St will be A4101, Scotts Green roundabout, A461 and B4179.   High Street will be two way at all times and will operate under temporary traffic signals.  Swan Street will also need to be closed at the junction with High St on the 21 May.

On 24 May, High Oak will be operating one way, northbound, with a closure required after midnight.  The full road closure after midnight will be from Tiled House Lane with access to frontages only and the diversion will be Bryce Road, Bromley Lane, Stream Rd and A4101.  Diversion from High St will be A4101, Scotts Green roundabout, A461 and B4179.  Swan Street will also need to be closed at the junction with High St on the 24 May.  High Street will be two way at all times and will operate under temporary traffic signals. 

On 25 May, all routes will be available and will operate under three way temporary signals. Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for environmental services, said:

“We are now nearing the end of this major improvement scheme, and we’re looking forward to fully re-opening the main High Street on Sunday 3 June. The last major phase of work will be resurfacing work which we have scheduled overnight in order to minimise disruption to drivers.

“We’re really pleased that the project is on schedule as we know that there has been a great deal of disruption to residents and business throughout, however we think the final results will make a major difference to people travelling in and through the borough.”
