Sainsbury’s Amblecote raises over £3,500 for community groups this Christmas

Staff at Sainsbury's in Amblecote have thanked their generous customers for Christmas donations which have helped the store to raise over £3,500 for charities and organisations.

Success stories included in store collections totalling £2,500 and benefitting three separate charities. The store’s charity partner, 'Hearing Dogs for Deaf People' raised £1,406, which included donations from the store's 'Tree of Remembrance' and 'Magic Reindeer Food' project. The charity also presented the store with the Birth Certificate and photos of Hearing Dog puppy “Willow”, who their fundraising is helping to sponsor.

Kingswinford and Lions Charity raised £1,035 for local charities and Omega Care raised £1252. A carol singing weekend on December 16 and 17 raised a total of £1,098.22 for five local charities and organisations.

The store had an incredible response to its toy appeal for Sycamore Adventure, with a final count of 159 toys being donated to over 89 children and young people, who may have missed a visit from Santa this year.

The store made a donation to 'White House Cancer Support for feel-good sessions and Bakery Team Leader, Lynn Dwyer, organised a Reverse Christmas Calendar which allowed the Bakery team to donate a hamper of useful essential items to people, in need. A donation of long life food was also donated by the store to 'Heavens Kitchen' in Dudley

12 charities and organisations were supported by the store's community budget, which included a gift voucher to support the 'We Love Carers' Christmas party and a biscuit donation to the Dementia Wing of the Royal British Legion, Care Home - Galanos House. Kevin Healy, store manager of Sainsbury’s Amblecote, said:

“Christmas is for sharing and we’re extremely grateful to our customers and colleagues for being so generous during the festive period.”

The store continues to donate its surplus food to Betel Uk.
