Stourbridge ceramics firm launches kids design competition

Stourbridge creatives, Saz’s Ceramics & Crafts, have announced a drawing and painting competition for kids aged between 5 and 16.

Their studio, based at the Red House Glass Cone, is a combination of a shop selling finished pottery items and an area for pottery painting and clay work. They also hire out takeaway kits for activities to be carried out at home.

During lockdown the firm's owner, Sarah Cannings, and her team have completed a refurbishment of their studio, making it more spacious and colourful. Sarah said:

"I wanted to involve the local community in helping to decorate an area of the studio. We need kids to get their pens, crayons and paints out and design a picture of something that represents our community.

"It could include our flag, buildings from round the Black Country, a scene of the canal or well-known Black Country sayings - let your imagination run wild!"

Designs needs to be circular and, preferably, on a single side of A4 paper. Entries should include the name and age of the child as well as contact details of parent or guardian.

You can drop pictures into their studio at the Red House Glass Cone, send them by email or post them to; Studio 8, Red House Glass Cone, High Street, Wordsley, DY8 4AZ. Entries need to be received by 31st August 2020.

The chosen design will then be transferred onto a large platter, which will be permanently displayed in their studio. The winner will also receive a free workshop and a clay or painting kit of their choice as a thank you for helping create the artwork.
