The nominated piece included coverage of the FA Birmingham Senior Cup, played at St. Andrews. Stourbridge FC beat four teams to get to the final including local rivals Halesowen Town, Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Bromwich Albion. The match was played in front of a crowd of over 1,250 including over 1,000 Stourbridge supporters.

Dan Richards, was also nominated for male Presenter of the Year and, although he didn't win, hos nomination means he's acknowledged as being one of the top five community radio presenters in the country.  Alex Totney, CEO of Black Country Radio, said:

“We are delighted that our sports team has been recognised nationally with this award. To have been nominated amongst a large number of other stations doing great work across the UK, is something we are incredibly proud to achieve. To take home a prize is even better.

“We are also proud that Dan has been recognised, by being shortlisted in this year’s awards too."

Martin Steers, Awards Chair, added:

"This independent event continues to grow from year to year, and it’s amazing to build momentum and celebrate the fantastic work that this sector produces in its communities on a daily basis.”
