Temporary parking changes in Stourbridge for CCTV work

People are being warned about temporary changes to parking in Stourbridge as the CCTV project nears completion.

Parking bays in High Street will be suspended this week while engineers fit new cameras in the town. The work is part of a borough-wide scheme to replace old and outdated cameras in town centres.

During the closing stages of the Stourbridge project parking bays in High Street will be suspended from the evening of Monday January 27 to Thursday January 30. Cllr Laura Taylor, cabinet member responsible for community safety, said:

“The new CCTV camera scheme is nearing completion and will mean shoppers and traders have more security than ever before.

”To do that we need to suspend the parking bays so our engineers can fit the cameras. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes but hope people will see the longer term benefits of a safe and secure town centre.”

The CCTV scheme includes state of the art cameras across the borough, to replace the old, outdated system which was prone to breakdown.

It also includes a new control room to oversee the network.

The whole scheme is scheduled to complete by Spring.
