The Vikings Are Coming To Dudley

Children and families can make their own shield and take part in foam sword fighting at a Viking themed family event in Dudley next week.

The free event at Dudley Archives and Local History Centre is suitable for children aged 5 and over and takes place on Saturday 4 June from 2 to 4pm.

The Black Country based re-enactment organisation Jorvik Vikingr will hold storytelling sessions and stage mock battles with Viking warriors. Cllr Rachel Harris, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said:

“The word Viking conjures up many images of marauding warriors but we hope that our event with storytelling and other activities will also show other aspects of life in the Viking community.”

There will also be activities for parents and carers including a 20 minute film about Teddy Grays sweet shop produced by Black Country based arts charity Multi Story. Booking is advisable for this free event on 01384 812770.
