Young entrepreneurs can have a free stall at the first Teenage Market to be held in the grounds of the former family home to the Earls of Dudley.

The Teenage Market, supported by LSD, New Generation Markets, is taking place on Sunday June 18th from 11am to 5pm at the prestigious Himley Hall and Park.

Anyone aged 13 – 23 years old is eligible with twenty stalls up for grabs on a first come, first served basis. Young musicians and entertainers are also encouraged to apply for a coveted performance slot.

Himley Hall and Park is one of the most glamorous settings in the Black Country. Past visitors have included not just high society, but English royalty.

Scores of Teenage Markets have sprung up all over the country thanks to the brainchild of two brothers Tom and Joe Barratt who wanted to revitalise their home town’s market in Stockport.

The idea quickly took off and received backing from the Queen of Shops Mary Portas, who described the scheme as innovative and inspiring.  The first Teenage Market in Dudley borough took place in Dudley town centre in 2015. Alan Lunt, strategic director of place at Dudley Council, said:

“Himley Hall will be our fourth Teenage Market location. The idea behind this event is that it gives youngsters a safe space to learn about marketing and selling and to hone their business and performance experience, while earning their own money.

“Over the past two years we have been privileged to watch young people practise and improve their skills as they come back time and time again.  But we also have the pleasure of welcoming new entrants at each Teenage Market.

"It is a valuable opportunity for them and also for their customers, who get to purchase unique goods and services at a fun and vibrant event.”
