Vote for your favourite hidden treasures at Sandwell Museums

Art lovers can vote for their favourite exhibits in the borough’s Hidden Treasures competition at Sandwell's museums.

Amateur artists, schools and community groups entered a range of pieces for the project and now local people get their chance to vote for the ones they are most impressed by.

People were invited to create artwork inspired by their favourite buildings, open spaces, walks, views and local attractions. The entries have been judged and shortlisted pieces will be on display at the four museums – Haden Hill House, Manor House Museum, Oak House Museum and Wednesbury Museum and Art Gallery – throughout August.

People can visit the exhibitions and vote for their favourite piece at each site. The winning entries from each site will then go on a tour of Sandwell and there will be an online vote throughout September and in October. The overall winner will be revealed at an awards ceremony at Wednesbury Museum & Art Gallery in October. Councillor Steve Trow, Sandwell Council's cabinet member for culture and core services, said:

“This scheme is a wonderful opportunity for people to show off their skills and get recognition for their efforts. Now local enthusiasts can get involved and express their views on how they appreciate the entries.

"I would urge people to get along and see the artists' efforts and to vote for their favourites."
