Vulnerable Man Robbed On Brierley Hill Bus

Dudley police are appealing for information after a 35-year-old man was robbed on his way home in Brierley Hill on 20 October at 3.15pm.

The man, who has down’s syndrome, was on the 246 bus at around 3pm when he was approached by a man who asked him to hand over his mobile.

When the victim - who struggles to communicate - did not respond the suspect searched through bags and pockets before stealing his phone. Investigating officer DC Gareth Homer said:

“This is a shocking crime whereby a vulnerable man has been specifically targeted and we’re taking this extremely seriously.

"He was very frightened by the ordeal and is struggling to come to terms with what happened. We are providing support to him and his family.

“I’m looking for anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or who has any information to contact police at the earliest possible opportunity."

If you have any information then please contact Detective Constable Gareth Homer by emailing g.homer@west-midlands.pnn.police.uk, quoting crime no. 20DY/207581M/16
