West Midlands Metro service returns this week

After a month of suspension due to necessary maintenance work, the West Midlands Metro has announced that services will begin resuming this week as part of the fleet has been repaired.

The Metro was suspended on November 13th after cracks were found in all trams in operation. Since then, the engineers at the Metro’s depot in Wednesbury, adjacent to Wednesbury Great Western Street tram stop, have worked to repair the trams permanently so as to get a safe, reliable and robust service back soon.

Initially, services will only be partially operational as half the fleet is still requiring repairs, as well as the need for testing to ensure that cracks do not reappear on repaired trams.

West Midlands Metro has said they cannot give an exact date for when services will fully resume, but that customers can be assured that they will continue to work alongside CAF (the manufacturer) to repair trams as quickly as possible.
