Featherstone lottery winner Amanda Lewis celebrated a milestone on 14th June, with the delivery of a millionaire worthy gold playstation to the supermarket where she bought her winning Lottery ticket - which also happens to be the place where she still works!

Since the first draw on 19 November 1994, The National Lottery has now created an amazing 5,000 millionaires and the last 1,000 have been made in just 29 months, at the rate of more than one every day.

Amanda, originally from Featherstone, still works part-time at the Asda supermarket on Molineux Way, Wolverhampton. The city centre supermarket finds itself in the lucky WV postcode, which has created 288 millionaires and higher-tier winners (Taking home prizes of over £50,000) since The National Lottery began in 1994; that’s one every month. Amanda said:

“I had worked later than normal, covering a couple of colleagues breaks, and needed a few groceries. I was £2.60 in credit having won £2.00 on a previous Lottery draw and decided to cash it in for another ticket. I had a Lucky Dip and didn’t think about it anymore until the next day!

"One of my colleagues checked the special Millionaire Maker code in store the next day and to say I was all a dither is an understatement. I sat in the car park shaking in the realisation that one of my dreams had come true!

“My family's life has changed – the win has been brilliant. We’ve bought the twins’ their own houses, we have a wonderful barn conversion ourselves, nice cars and some wonderful holidays. But I still love working at Asda; I’ve been her 16 years and have so many friends.”

Giving the new stand her own stamp of approval with a golden hand print, one of the luckiest shop assistants in Wolverhampton wrote a message of luck to all future players directly onto the gold playstation. Jon Howells, general store manager at Molineux Way, Wolverhampton, said:

"We were thrilled when we found out one of our own had won. Amanda is a great colleague and it’s great to see her still every week as part of the team – showing our store is a great place to work. It’s extra special to see her in an ‘official’ National Lottery capacity celebrating this amazing millionaire milestone.
