In football, Stourbridge beat National League opposition for the fourth time this season as they won 1-0 at Braintree in the FA Trophy Second Round.

Matt Dodd scored the only goal of the game in the second half to book the Glassboys a place in the third round.

In the Evo-Stik Northern Premier, Halesowen’s match at Ilkeston, as well as Tividale’s game against Newcastle Town in the First Division South, were called off.

Matches elsewhere involving Lye, Cradley, Dudley Sports, Dudley Town, Black Country Rangers and Tipton were also postponed due to the weather.

Finally in rugby, Stourbridge beat Harrogate 23-10 National League Two North, and Dudley Kingswinford beat Whitchurch 37-12 in Midlands Division One West.

Old Halesonians’ match at home to Peterborough Lions in National League Three Midlands was called off.
