Heroes and Heroine’s Writing Competition

Do you know someone who is amazing, inspirational or are you fascinated by a local person who’s done something special in the Black Country? We want your creative words about why they inspire you!

Billy Spakemon and Scott Eeles from Black Country Radio’s 'Omma n Chain Show' are running a writing competition - to celebrate local “Heroes and Heroines.”

You inspiration could be a family member, a teacher, someone they have been in contact with or know, even a cartoon character as long as they bring the region into the story. We want real stories about real people. Please let your kids take the idea to their school - we’d love to see lots of entries.

The story needs to be no more than 500 words in total and  can be written in Standard English, in a  Black Country dialect or a mix of both.

Winners will be selected from four categories:
• Under 11 years of age
• 11-18 years of age
• 18-50 years of age
• Over 50.

Winners of each category will receive a £20.00 Waterstone’s Voucher, with winning entries being offered the opportunity to come on to the 'Omma n Chain Show' and read their creative writing!

Closing date is 31st October 2018.

All entries should be sent by post to:
Dr B Dakin, 53 Midhill Drive, Rowley Regis B65 9SG.

Terms and Conditions:
• Entries must be clearly marked with your name, address, age and phone number and email address.
• People under 16 years must have parental consent to submit their entry.
• As part of entering this competition, you agree to any publicity, photos or promotion by Black Country Radio, including an on air broadcast and agree to your written works being used in promotions in the future.
