Ambulance crews respond to more than 9,000 calls over Chrismas

West Midlands Ambulance Service says it responded to more than 9,300 call outs across the whole county in three days over the festive period.

It responsed to nearly 3,100 emergency calls on Christmas Eve, more than 2,900 on Christmas Day, and just under 3,300 on Boxing Day.

The figure is down around 2.5% compared to 2014’s figures.

A spokesman for the service praised its staff for its hard work and dedication.
