Artrix announces new season for the New Year

The Bromsgrove venue is presenting a new season of the very best in live music, top-name comedy, family theatre and the latest cinema releases. 

The New Year at Artrix has a familiar feel this year with the return of some very popular favourites including King Pleasure And The Biscuit Boys on 3 January and The Johnny Cash Roadshow on 10 January.
 
Artrix presents the best in new music from the likes of Deep Cabaret on 15 March. They’ll be bringing a unique sound to the Artrix stage – expect hurdies, bagpipes, throat singing, cello, bass clarinet and drums making sparkling jazz, rooted folk and torching vocals! Followed by rising star of the folk scene, Iona Lane on 20 March.

The live music continues throughout the season with a fantastic selection of tribute acts from pop favourites The Whitney Houston Experience on 31 January and George and Elton: Faith and Love on 27 February, to the music of Rock n Roll legends with the Upbeat Beatles on 18 January and T.Rextasy on 5 March.

Artrix welcomes he phenomenal voice of Ruby Turner on 1 February, folk legends Fairport Convention return to the main Stage on 16 February, 90s Legends Chris Helme (The Seahorses), Mark Morriss (The Bluetones) and Nigel Clarke (Dodgy) play on 14 March, plus monthly classical concerts from Bromsgrove Concerts.
 
There’s classic comedy on 15 January from Milton Jones, Live at the Apollo regular Darren Harriott on 18 January and Jane Godley’s Soup Pot Tour on 15 February, plus the return of Artrix favourites Tom Stade on 23 February and Stand Up For Women on 26 February.

The comedy continues with some big name visitors this Spring including Geoff Norcott: Taking Liberties on 4 March, Clive Anderson: Me, Macbeth & I on 13 March and Andrew Maxwell, fresh from the jungle, on 30 April. 

During February half-term there will be Family Theatre with What a Wonderful World, an amazing romp through the universe, for children aged 2+. 

As always, Artrix presents a new term of participatory courses, including all new Teen Art Club and Home Educated Teen Art Club from 7 January and Jewellery Making from 8 January.

Following the success of this year’s Easy Sunday events, there’s more planned for the New Year. On 19 January, 16 February and 8 March there will be Easy Sunday films, live music and street food and on 11 & 12 April there will be a bumper weekend of events during the Artrix Easter Weekender. 

The cinema programme includes the latest releases, such as Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker (expected release Jan 2020) and live screenings of Kinky Boots on 4 and 9 February, Matthew Bourne’s Romeo & Juliet on 12 February and NT Live: Cyrano De Bergerac on 20 February. Cinema listings information is updated regularly, so keep checking online for the latest listings. Director of Artrix, Angela Galvin, explained that the range of shows on offer and competitive ticket prices are at the heart of Artrix’s programme. She said:
