Become an 'eggsplorer' across Dudley this Easter

Holly Hall Academy pupils, Charlotte Sims and Sanam Naghman, get ready for the hunt

Schoolchildren across Dudley borough are getting egg-cited about Easter, thanks to their involvement in an Easter egg trail.

Twenty three schools across the borough, plus Dudley College, have each designed a giant stand-up Easter egg template.  Their talent and creativity will then be displayed in shops and venues across Dudley town centre, as part of a public art egg hunt.

Egg sleuths can follow the free trail on specially designed egg trail maps, which, from Good Friday, can be picked up at Dudley Library, Dudley Museum and Art Gallery, and Dudley Council Plus. They can also be downloaded at dudley.gov.uk/dyevents as well as at discoverdudley.co.uk.

One of the schools taking part is Holly Hall Academy, in Dudley. Art teacher Stephen Sharp explained why he was happy for the school to be involved. He said:

“We felt that this would be a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to demonstrate their creativity and have pride in their work being publicly displayed.

“We don’t yet know which shop or cafe our egg will be placed in, and it will be exciting when we find out and see it in situ as part of the trail.”

Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member for planning and economic development, added:

“This fun public art trail is one of many events that, together with our partners Dudley Business Group and Dudley Market Traders Ltd, we are organising for people to enjoy while the DY-Eye is in town.

“I would like to thank all of the schools and Dudley College for agreeing to take part and for helping to show everyone the talent and creativity that exists within the borough.”

All schools within the borough were invited to take part in the trail with the first 24 educational establishments to respond were selected. The trail will begin on Good Friday March 25 and run until Sunday April 10. After this date the eggs will be displayed altogether at Dudley Museum.
