Black Country Girls Note Floats Over 140 Miles To North Yorkshire

Four-year-old Josie Allen from Halesowen attached a note to a balloon, which was found 142 miles away at a Scarborough Hotel

Josie released the balloon two weeks ago, after making a wish and releasing the string a week after her fourth birthday. Written by her Mum, Mandy, the message read:

"This balloon was released by a little girl called Josie on 11th September 2016 in Halesowen, West Midlands.

"She was 4 on the 4th September and she wanted to let it go and make a wish for her birthday. Please share on [Facebook] if you find it!"

Last weekend, it was discovered in a field at The Grainary in Harwood Dale, a village in Scarborough, North Yorkshire.

After reading her note, Mark Simpson who runs the B&B and tea rooms managed to track Josie down through Facebook and have offered her and her family a stay in their farmhouse during half term. Speaking to Jonathan Knight on Black Country Breakfast, he said:

"We were pretty determined! We've got an active Facebook page with over 7000 fans and not just people from the local area.

"We thought if we put a message out, and encourage people to share it, we might find her - and we did!"
