Dudley traders issue invitation to Piers Morgan

Dudley traders say they’re determined to bring Piers Morgan to the town following his remarks about the Stone Street Square Ferris wheel.

Speaking on ITV's 'Good Morning Britain', Morgan said the Dudley attraction had nothing to offer but views of a "dreary skyline". However the people of the Black Country are still keen for him to come and see for himself.

To date, three invitations for the TV star to come and ride the wheel have been issued by Black Country Radio, Dudley North MP Ian Austin and now the wheels organisers.

However, as town traders doubt he will take up the invitation to ride the 35 metre high giant wheel, the public are encouraged to print off a Piers Morgan mask and hop on the wheel for free before 10am on April 1st.

Dave Carter, owner of The Arcade Toy Shop, told the Dudley News that he thought Mr Morgan's criticism was unfair. He said: "We have plenty of heritage in Dudley and we do have views of the castle and surrounding areas, plus its a bit of fun for the family.

"We are encouraging people to show their love for Dudley and turn out in support of the town, ride the DY Eye and shop in the town on April 1st, whilst wearing a Piers Morgan mask."

Anyone who wants to be involved in the 'Piers Morgan flash mob' can download a mask from the Arcade Toy Shop's Facebook page or by visiting this page of our website
