Family and friends of missing Stourbridge man say public response has been 'overwhelming'

The family and friends of Matthew Gill say the response they've had from the local community has been 'totally overwhelming as they continue to search for the Stourbridge man.

43-year-old Matthew, known to his friends as Liggy, was last seen on the morning of 6th October and was last seen wearing a blue Superdry t shirt. Despite extensive searches by teams in the community there have been no sightings since.

His silver Smart Roadster Brabus car was found in the car park of Petzone on the A449 near Stourton. Speaking to Ian Marrey on Black Country Radio, Matthew's cousin, Louise Flanagan, said:

"It's totally overwhelming. The generosity of people donating anything from water and food to their time is absolutely brilliant.

"Everybody who knows Matt loves him to bits. He's just a normal guy and we need people to get his face engrained on their mind. If you do see anything, please get in contact with the Locate team or the Missing Persons charity.

Matthew is described as white, 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build and would have had short cropped hair when he went missing. DC Gail Cartridge, from the West Midlands Police 'Locate' team, said:

“We are very concerned about Matthew, there has still been no contact with his family and friends and this is completely out of character for him.

“We ask Matthew to get in contact with the team to just let us know he is safe and well [or] if you know anything about his whereabouts, please call us.”

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact the Locate team on 01902 649150 or the charity Missing People on 116 000.

The family have created a JustGiving page to support search efforts and have set up both a Facebook page and Twitter account to keep people up to date, using the hashtag #FindLiggy.
