Former garage owner has prison sentence extended

A former Brierley Hill garage owner has had his prison sentence extended for sexually assaulting a second female customer.

Earlier this year, Robert Parke, who owned RP Autos in Brierley Hill, was jailed for 52 months for sexually assaulting a client before intimidating her into dropping the charges against him.

He admitted sexual assault, perverting the course of justice and three unconnected counts of sexual activity.

But he will now spend a further six months behind bars after he was found guilty of grabbing another woman's hand and placing it on his groin after she called into the garage.

The 52-year-old also made an indecent remark to the woman and when she asked him what he was doing, he replied: "Don't worry - you are not on CCTV." Parke later sent her a number of text messages which were "flirty," Paul Spratt, prosecuting, told Wolverhampton Crown Court.

He said the victim then notified police after a public appeal was made for help in tracing Parke, who had gone on the run while wanted for the other sexual offences.

Patrick Kelly, defending, said Parke, had made a grave mistake.

"He completely misread the signals from this woman and it was the briefest of contact."
