Former Aston Villa and Coventry striker Julian Joachim has announced that he will be celebrating the release of his autobiography, You Must be Joachim, at a special event in Sutton Coldfield.

Joachim will be signing copies of his book, including personal messages and posing for photos with those in attendance. Fans will have the opportunity to meet Julian at Waterstones, Sutton Coldfield from 11am to 1pm on Saturday 21st May.

Joachim played for Villa between 1996 and 2001, scoring 45 goals and earning Villa’s Player of the Year award in 1999.  In his new book You Must Be Joachim, the former striker recalls his time at Villa Park, including playing at the last FA Cup final held at the Old Wembley, his formidable partnership with Dion Dublin and how his ambitions for an international career led to a fallout with then manager John Gregory. Julian said:

“I developed a really good understanding with Dion. Our styles complimented each other and he was such a good player. I always found that the better players I played with, the easier the game became.

Joachim starred in a number of high profile matches for Villa, including a memorable 3-2 comeback win over Arsenal in 1998. The side also never finished outside of the top eight during Joachim’s spell at the club, which also included a UEFA Cup quarter final against Atletico Madrid.

After his spell at Villa, Joachim transferred to Coventry in the summer of 2001 with the expectation of helping the Sky Blues bounce straight back into the Premier League. He added:

“My first two seasons at Highfield Road were tough. We found out that the club was in trouble financially and I kept picking up niggling injuries that kept me out of the side.”

'You Must be Joachim' is available to purchase at all major book retailers and online at Amazon.
