Dudley’s historic Himley Hall will be celebrating in style when a newly refurbished West Wing opens for weddings this summer.

The 18 century, grade II* stately home is a popular wedding venue. To coincide with ten years of weddings in the famous West Wing, Dudley Council, which owns and manages the venue has arranged for a stylish redecoration and restyle of this art nouveau treasure.

The hall will be throwing open its doors on Saturday 4 May and revealing its new interiors which includes new paintwork, interior and exterior signage, the transformation of the hall foyer into an informal reception area for guests, complete with pop-up bar, use of the stairwell and its chandelier backdrop for photos, contemporary but classic styling by a graduate interior designer and the renaming of the rooms to better reflect the hall’s history.

Four rooms will be dressed for the occasion, and visitors will be able to experience the venue set up for a wedding breakfast, formal dinner and evening celebration. The striking stairwell, complete with crystal chandelier will be opened up to the public to allow additional photo opportunities for the happy couple and the foyer will be transformed into a welcoming space for guests to mingle and take refreshments ahead of the ceremony.

Glamour and old-school romance have always been associated with Himley Hall, former home of the Earls of Dudley. In 1934, The Duke and Duchess of Kent honeymooned here, and in 1936, The Prince of Wales (later Edward VII) spent his last weekend here with Wallis Simpson before his abdication, while in 1961, actress Maureen Swanson married Viscount Ednam, becoming Countess of Dudley on 26 December 1969, following her husband's succession to the earldom.

The ticketed event which runs from 11am – 4pm is an opportunity to look around the venue, talk to the wedding team, tour the historic hall and sample the hall’s gourmet food. Couples attending on the day can enter a free prize draw to win a room for a wedding ceremony.
The day will also feature a display of wedding photos submitted by couples who have been married in the hall over the last ten years. These couples will be invited to view the transformed rooms.

The hall can cater for all wedding types and sizes and from summer 2020 will be able to offer outdoor weddings in the hall’s beautiful Capability Brown landscaped gardens, taking in the stunning view of the lake. The much loved tennis pavilion is set to be transformed into a premium outdoor venue, with marquees available to bring the outdoors inside. Festival and glamping weddings will be available from the summer of 2020 allowing couples to choose a more natural, relaxed and open air setting.

Each wedding, whatever the scale and whether inside or out has exclusive hire of the hall and couples can have total peace of mind about their booking. This year the hall has a range of packages to choose from, priced from £5,999, all of which allow personalisation to make the day extra special.
