Two new documentary films about the development of Hip-Hop in Britain during the 1980s will be screened at a special event in Dudley this weekend.

The independently produced films will be shown at the Dudley Archives and Local History Centre on Saturday 14th May.

The two films tell the story of the coming of Hip-Hop to the UK in the early 1980s and the impact the culture had on young people.

Unstoppable is set in London while NG83 – When We Were B Boys is about the Nottingham scene. Martin Jones, the curator of the Zulu Dawn Archive, said:

 “We’re delighted to have the premieres of two new documentaries that use our archive and explore the impact that Hip-Hop has had on British contemporary culture and society.”

Both films feature archive material from the Zulu Dawn Archive which is based at the Dudley Archives and Local History Centre. 

The free event next week celebrates the completion of both documentaries and the launch of the Zulu Dawn website, zuludawn.org 

NG83 will be shown at 12.30pm and Unstoppable will be shown at 2.30pm.  There will be question and answer sessions after each film
