Local radio station to re-brand as first all year round Christmas station

Bosses at Black Country Radio are taking a gamble and relaunching the station - playing nothing but Christmas music every day of the year.

The move is thought to be an industry first and will mean classic hits - from Slade to Bing Crosby and The Darkness to Shakin’ Stevens - will be heard on FM across the Black Country and DAB throughout Birmingham. Station director, Dave Brownhill, said:

“We just love Christmas - and we know our listeners do too! It’s a risk, but one we’re excited to take!

”Not only will there be huge amounts of Christmas music, we’ll also be playing games like ‘name the Santa’ and ‘Holly or Wally’, where we ask whether something we play is by someone called Holly...or a wally!”

The move is set to take place from May 1st, when general playlists will cease and Frosty The Snowman will be the first song played on the new ‘Black Country Radi-Ho’.
