Local Residents Rally Round To Support Devastated Farmers

A Just Giving page has been created to raise funds for a local family who's farm fell victim to two fires in as many days.

White House Farm in Halesowen was initially targeted by arsonists on Sunday evening when a barn was set alight, resulting in the deaths of ten calves and injury to a number of others.

Fire crews were alerted just after 9:00pm and over 25 firefighters and 5 appliances were sent to the blaze. Teams worked hard to try to stop the fire from spreading, saving around 100 more cattle and 12 horses.

Crews handed the site back to the farm owners at around 11am on Monday morning, however later that evening the barn caught fire again causing further, extensive damage.

Cherly Hart, a local resident and friend of the farms owners, has set up the crowd funding page to appeal to the local community to help the family to get back to some degree of normality. She said:

"On Sunday evening someone decided to set fire to my friends farm for fun- resulting in multiple deaths of innocent calves who were burnt alive and many more were injured whilst trying to escape the fire.

Even though they were devastated, on Monday evening our friends went out for a meal to celebrate her 50th birthday, but sadly the call came again and this time the fire was much bigger than the night before. Let's raise as much money as possible to help them towards rebuilding their livelihood."

Anyone wishing to donate can visit the page by clicking here before September 15th 2016.
