Local youngster’s Christmas artwork on display at Merry Hill

Seven winning designs submitted by local children to Mike Wood MP’s 2021 Christmas card competition are on display at Merry Hill.

The festive designs, which include the overall winning “tree-Rex” design by Harry Jones from Year 1 at Dawley Brook primary school in Kingswinford, have been blown up and printed onto large format posters for shoppers to enjoy when visiting the shopping centre this Christmas. Mr Wood, MP for Dudley South, said:

“I really want to thank Merry Hill for once again helping me to celebrate the artistic talent of our local youngsters.

“From Harry’s ‘tree-Rex’ to Evie’s scene of Santa visiting a Black Country home, the creative thinking and artistic talent in these entries is just the kind of thing to bring a smile to people’s faces this Christmas.”

More than 600 local children submitted entries to this year’s competition and the overall winning design, along with 6 runners-up, have been shown on the MP’s Christmas card which has gone out to hundreds of MPs, local businesses, community leaders across Dudley South, and even to Buckingham Palace. Sarah Dodds, Assistant Marketing Manager for Merry Hill, added:

"We’re delighted to support the Christmas card competition again this year. It’s fantastic to see the artistic talent in our local schools and to be able to share this with our visitors throughout December."

Visitors to Merry Hill can spot the artwork on display along the mall between the Post Office and Next.
