Male arrested for drug offences after police find balaclava and axe

Officers from C unit response based at Brierley Hill police station arrested a suspected drug dealer in Dudley earlier this week.

Whilst on patrol in Dudley town centre, the officers saw a suspicious vehicle which, when approached, made off at speed, overtaking vehicles until he was out of sight.

However, the force helicopter was above and tracked him to a nearby address. The officers located the male and car and conducted a search under the misuse of drugs act.

Inside the car they found a large amount of cannabis, a balaclava, weighing scales and an axe. The male was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply controlled drugs and possession of an offensive weapon.

A search of the address and another vehicle nearby produced a substantial amount of cash, more weapons and a substantial amount of drugs.

The male remains in custody.
