Mayor’s charities benefit from online boost

A business visit to the local credit union proved to be a big hit with the Mayor of Dudley.

The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Dave Tyler, visited Castle & Crystal Credit Union as part of his 100 business pledge and was delighted to hear that online donations to his charities have already reached £1,500.

The visit to the credit union is part of the Mayor’s commitment to celebrate the achievements of local businesses and to promote the support that is available from the council to all businesses, whether large or small, starting up or expanding.

The credit union based at 25 New Street, Dudley, has a solid track record of providing corporate accounts for local organisations, ranging from local businesses and public services to charities and voluntary groups as well as individual members. Councillor Dave Tyler, the Mayor of Dudley, said:

“The credit union provides a real alternative to high street banks for both businesses and individuals. Their not-for-profit approach means that money stays within the community, benefiting the whole borough.

“I was delighted to be greeted with the news that my charity online fundraising facility, supported by Castle & Crystal has already reached the £1,500 mark."

Any business which would like to be included in the Mayor's 100 business pledge, can get in touch through the Mayor of Dudley's website. People can follow the Mayor on his civic engagements or share news about his charity fundraising on Twitter, or can they donate online.
