MP congratulates Christmas appeal charity for bringing joy at Easter time

Brierley Hill based Santa’s Black Country Toy Appeal has received praise from Mike Wood MP for bringing joy at Easter time.

The charity is best known for running a several month long campaign gathering donations of toys and gifts for the children of struggling families on the lead up to Christmas. For the first time, the charity has also run an Easter Egg Appeal pilot for children who may not get one this Easter.

Donations have come in from far and wide – and, with eggs still to be counted, it looks like the team’s 2000 egg target will have been hit just in time for school’s breaking up for the Easter break. Mike Wood MP said:

“Santa’s Black Country Toy Appeal do such a fantastic job encouraging donations to brighten up countless children’s Christmases. And now, with this pilot, and the kindness of each person and organisation that has donated to it, they’re bringing joy at Easter time too.

“Of course, the true meaning of Easter is about rebirth and renewal. The idea that the worst things are never the last things. That the story isn’t over.

“Hopefully this message will seem that little bit more real for each child that receives one of these eggs, who, for whatever reason, might not otherwise have received one.”

Based on the success of this year’s pilot, Santa’s Black Country Toy Appeal say they will be running their Easter Egg appeal again next year.
