MP welcomes constituents back to tour 'mother of all parliaments'

Dudley South MP Mike Wood welcomed almost 50 local people for a tour of Parliament last week as eased Covid restrictions allowed for first visit in two years.

Restrictions brought in to limit the number of people on the Palace of Westminster estate during the pandemic meant the MP hasn’t been able to run his usual parliament tours since early 2020.

With restrictions now eased, constituents were once again able to visit the “home of democracy”.

As part of the tour, constituents enjoyed a personal tour from the MP – learning about the history of palace, sitting in on debates in both the House of Commons and House of Lords, and firing questions at Mr Wood in a Question and Answer session in Committee Room 10. Mike said:

“I’ve always thought it important to make it as easy as possible for the people I represent to visit the place where I work on their behalf.

“So after two long years of not being able to run these tours, it was really great to welcome a coach full of constituents back to Parliament.”

Mr Wood said he plans to run another trip later this year. Anyone wishing to register their interest can do so by calling Mike’s constituency
office on 01384 913 123.
