New Jobs Created As Bus Company Expands

Around 140 positions will become available as part of plans tabled by Black Country bus operator, Diamond Bus.

The firm, which runs services across the West Midlands, will take over former offices in Tipton Road, Tividale, a short distance from its existing base. Some buildings will be demolished to create a new bus park at the site. Work on the move will start imminently after the proposal was given the nod by Sandwell Council's planning committee.

Company bosses said the move was necessary due to the growth of the company and have taken advantage of the opportunity whilst also launching two new services in the Birmingham.

Diamond also confirmed 140 jobs are expected to be created in the next 12 months, with most of the new positions expected to be for drivers, as the company seeks to expand the number of services it runs.

Diamond are the second largest bus operator in the area, forming from a merger of four companies including Halesowen based Ludlows in 2009. Their vehicles drive passengers between West Bromwich, Stourbridge, Halesowen and Dudley as well as frequent services between Merry Hill and Birmingham.
