Packed Line Up For Armed Forces day

This year’s Armed Forces Day line up at Himley Hall and Park is bigger and better than ever.

Armed Forces Day 2016 will be held at Himley Hall and Park on Sunday June 26 to celebrate the work of servicemen and women. The day’s formal line-up will include the return of the popular singing trio the D-Day Darlings who will be performing the most popular songs of the wartime era in the main arena.

Local branches of the Air Training Cadets will be celebrating their 75th anniversary and Sealed Knot civil war re-enactors will also be demonstrating their skills. The day’s events will also see a tribute to the Queen to mark her 90th birthday and becoming the longest serving monarch.

Entry to the event is free and is open from 11am to 5pm. Every year thousands of people go along for a fun filled day out for all of the family in honour of our British Armed Forces.

As well as the formal proceedings the park is full of activities for people of all ages which include assault courses, paintball, history talks and exhibitions, military vehicle displays. The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Mohammed Hanif said:

“It will be a great honour to attend this year’s Armed Forces Day as Mayor of Dudley and particularly to present special badges and medals to veterans on the day. The line up for this year’s formal proceedings in the event’s main arena is packed full of entertainment and a great celebration of British Armed Forces.

“I am also looking forward to marking the Queen’s 90th birthday and would encourage families to come and picnic at the park and wave their union jacks in a community celebration.”
