Pallets plea for Himley Bonfire

People are being urged to donate their unwanted pallets to help build a huge bonfire at Himley Park for the annual bonfire and fireworks spectacular event.

Bosses at the Dudley Council-owned beauty spot are appealing for help from local companies who can donate unbroken, wooden pallets to build the giant bonfire for this year’s event.

The event, which takes place on Saturday November 2nd, is one of the biggest in the region and a significant discount is available to people who book online in advance. This year’s theme will mark 50 years since the Apollo 11 mission and is sponsored by Wates Living Space, Intu Merry Hill, K2 Services Ltd, Promarco and Ruskin Properties.

Advanced online ticketing means that people can take advantage of a discount off the gate price. Online, standard adult's pay £10, standard children and senior citizen's gain access for £5.50 and a family ticket (two adults, two children) is £24.

Following on from its popularity of last year, the event will offer a premium viewing area on the South Lawns near the hall with a private bar, gourmet food, a lit marquee, large screen with live entertainment and elevated views. An enhanced VIP ticket which includes access to hall is all available for £25. Councillor Ian Kettle, cabinet member for planning and economic development, said:

"We are very excited to be making preparations for this year’s fireworks and bonfire spectacular, which we are running in conjunction with our principle sponsor Wates Living Space.

"Every year the event is tremendously supported by local companies donating huge numbers of pallets. Anyone who can help is urged to get in touch as soon as possible."

Only wooden pallets can be accepted and not garden rubbish, tree trunks or old furniture. Pallets cannot be collected but will be accepted at Himley Hall. Companies wishing to dispose of their pallets that are able to deliver to the park should call 01384 817834 to make prior arrangements.

VIP and premium tickets will be strictly limited and are only available online. Full details can be found at himleyhallandpark.co.uk/bonfire.
