Participants required for new study into bulimia nervosa

Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust are looking for women, diagnosed with bulimia nervosa, to take part in a research study to trial a new type of treatment.

The study will see participants aged between 18 and 60 trial a nasal spray containing Naloxone Hydrochloride to see if it can lessen the symptoms of the illness.

If accepted onto the trial, participants will be required to take the nasal spray for 8 weeks and visit the research team at Dorothy Pattison Hospital in Walsall four times throughout the trial. Florence Okwu, Acting Research and Innovation Manager said:

“It’s important to develop treatments in healthcare which is why research trials like this are so vital. I would urge anyone to get in touch if they fit the criteria so they can play a part in the potential treatment of bulimia nervosa.”

If you would like to find out more or take part in the study contact Ms Okwu on 01922 608299 or email florence.okwu1@nhs.net.
