People invited to ‘grab a jab’ this week

People eligible for their first, second or COVID-19 booster jab are invited to walk-in and ‘grab a jab’ this week, with no appointment necessary.

All adults, as well as children aged 12 and over, who have not yet received a first dose are encouraged to come forward, even if they have previously declined.

Second doses are available for people aged 12 to 17 who had their first dose 12 weeks ago, and anyone over the age of 18 who had their first dose eight weeks ago. Following the latest guidance, those aged 16 and over are also now eligible for their booster jab provided it has been three months since their second dose.

With more than 100 vaccination sites across the Black Country and West Birmingham, many of which are offering walk-in appointments, it has never been easier to get your vaccine.

People are encouraged to find their nearest site by visiting the NHS online walk-in finder and entering a postcode or area to find the sites open at that time. Sally Roberts, Chief Nursing Officer for NHS Black Country and West Birmingham Clinical Commissioning Group, said:

“Whether it’s a first, second or booster dose, we’re encouraging anyone eligible to come forward and grab a jab this week. We want everyone to know that the offer of a vaccine is evergreen and there is still a vaccine waiting for you.

"If you have been putting it off, now is the time to take it action – the vaccine remains our best protection for ourselves, our loved ones and our wider community.

“There are now more clinics than ever delivering vaccines across the area, including pharmacies, GP practices and vaccination sites, meaning it’s never been easier to get a jab.

“So, please come and see us this week and get yourself protected.”
