Police appeal for help after Waterfront RTC

Police in Dudley need your help to understand why a car crashed into a tree on Waterfront Way at 8.45pm on Wednesday night.

A 21-year-old woman who was a passenger in the car sustained very serious injuries and is currently in hospital in a critical condition. It’s a very worrying time for her friends and loved ones, and her family are being supported by a specialist liaison officer.

The driver of the car, a white VW Touareg, initially left the scene but he was arrested at a house in Brierley Hill. The 34-year-old is currently in custody and will be interviewed later today on suspicion of causing injury by dangerous driving and drink driving.

A few witnesses have already been spoken to but officers are keen to hear from you if you were there or saw the Touareg driving around Merry Hill before the collision.

If you can help, you can contact police via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk. Please quote reference number 3810 -160322.
