Police have launched a 'major investigation' after a man was murdered and another seriously injured in Stourbridge.

Officers were called to a house on Caslon Crescent, just off The Broadway, in Norton at around 19:40 last night (Friday) after being alerted by West Midlands Ambulance Service.

A man in his 30s died at the scene, while a second man, in his 20s, was seriously hurt.

Caslon Crescent is just yards from the main entrance to Gig Mill Primary School.

The circumstances as to how the men sustained their injuries are not yet known, but detectives have indicated they are searching for other people in connection with the incident. A spokesman said:

“People will understandably be worried about what’s happened. Right now our priority is to find the people responsible. Specialist resources from across the West Midlands have been brought in to help us.

“At the same time, we are supporting family members, collecting evidence and piecing together all of the facts so that we understand what happened and why.”

Police said there would be officers at the scene for "the next few days" to gather witness reports, speak to local residents and reassure the local community.

A post mortem examination will be carried out to establish how the victim died.
