Police officer charged with Stourbridge rape

A 39-year-old Black Country police officer has been charged with raping a woman in Stourbridge.

PC Ben Clay, a neighbourhood officer based in Wolverhampton, was arrested in January after an allegation was made against him.

He was suspended and bailed while an investigation was carried out, before being charged at the end of October, though police have only made the details public now.

He’s due to appear before Dudley Magistrates Court today (Wednesday) where he will be formally charged.

The incident is alleged to have happened while he was off duty.
