Police re-appeal following serious Tipton collision

Police are re-appealing for witnesses following a serious collision in the Tipton area of Sandwell on Wednesday 18 December 2019 at around 4.50pm.

A 39-year-old cyclist was hit by a car on Park Lane East and was taken to hospital in a critical condition, where he remains today (Saturday 4 January 2020). The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting with police enquiries. Sergeant Dean Caswell from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“We need anyone who witnessed the collision to get in touch with us as soon as possible. In particular, I am keen to hear from anyone with dash cam footage that may have captured the moments before or after the collision where a black Nissan Qashqai car hit a cyclist inside the tunnel towards Lower Church Lane.

“I’d like to speak to the occupants of a car who exited the tunnel just before the collision as well as an Asian man who helped the cyclist at the scene and provided his jacket to the victim.”

Enquiries continue and anyone with information is urged to contact officers via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am and midnight, or call 101 anytime. Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Please quote log number 1798 of 18 December.
