Red House Cone Plays Host To TV Show

It was lights, camera, auction at the Red House Cone when the BBC’s Bargain Hunt set up on site.

The programme, presented by Natasha Raskin, features two couples who snap up antiques with the aim of turning a profit at auction.

Natasha was at the Cone, in Wordsley, today making glass with artist Charlotte Hughes Martin. She also had the opportunity to take a look around the site with tour guide and outreach worker Dr Kate Round. The visit was to help the presenter find out more about the area’s glass heritage and pick up pointers on identifying antique and collectable glass.

The teams will be drawing on this knowledge when they visit various collectors, prior to an auction in Lichfield.

The cone has been a draw for TV shows over the last few years welcoming Paul Martin, Michael Portillo, Gok Wan and cbeebies’ Mr Bloom through its doors. Alan Lunt, strategic director for place said:

“The Red House Glass Cone is a popular attraction, which gives visitors the chance to learn about our glassmaking heritage while also having the opportunity to get involved with fun, hands-on activities.

“I’m sure Natasha will have enjoyed her time on site and hopefully take away new found skills and knowledge from her day with the cone’s glassmakers.”

The Red House Glass Cone, High Street, Wordsley, is open 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday and 11am to 4pm at the weekends. Admission is free.
