Sainsbury’s Amblecote are thanking customers and colleagues who have supported it’s local charity partner, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, and helped raise £18,628 during the two year partnership.

The charity was originally chosen by customers and colleagues in 2016 and was voted back in for a second year, in 2017, having again received  the most combined in-store and on-line votes.

The funds were raised through a range of activities, which included tombolas, collections and a sky-dive by former café colleague, Lisa Cope and her best friend and are now being used to sponsor a Hearing Puppy, who is currently in training. Vicky Ran, Community Fundraising Manager for the Midlands said:

“We have absolutely loved working with our friends at Sainsbury’s over the last two years and are very sad that the partnership has come to an end. Together we raised an absolutely amazing amount and throughout, have been astonished by the generosity and friendliness of all the customers and colleagues.  

"We will be staying in touch with the store because they are supporting one of our puppies through her training. The staff and customers have chosen the name “Willow” and she is doing very well indeed.

Over two weeks in June, customers were given the chance to vote in store and on-line for the store’s new charity partner, with Sycamore Adventure receiving the most combined in store and on-line votes.  

Sycamore Adventure is an award-winning adventure playground and Social Enterprise which provides all children, whatever their background or educational needs with the opportunity to play, explore and imagine.

The Local Charity Scheme is now entering its tenth year and a partnership launch is due to take place at Amblecote Store between August 2nd and 4th.
