Sandwell garden waste collections to return in February

Sandwell’s garden bin collections are set to start up again during the two-week period, between Monday 28 February and Friday 11 March.

Residents’ first collection date will depend on the schedule for the area and bin dates will be available at sandwell.gov.uk/binday from the afternoon of Friday 25 February 2022. Councillor Ahmad Bostan, Sandwell Council’s cabinet member for environment, said:

“As we look forward to the brighter days of spring, gardeners will be thinking about getting their gardens ready for the start of the growing season and they will welcome the return of garden waste bin collections starting from the end of February 2022.

“I urge people to put their garden waste – grass cuttings, clippings, weeds, leaves, windfalls, and so on – in their garden waste bins, ready for collection.”

Residents are reminded that garden waste can be stored in garden waste bins until collections restart or taken to the tip in Oldbury. Alternatively, it can be placed on your compost heap or bagged up until collections begin, when they should empty it out of the bag and put into their garden waste bin. If you plan on going to the tip, you need to book an appointment at sandwell.gov.uk/tip.

People can find more advice and information on garden waste, including tips on what you can and can't put in your garden waste bin, at sandwell.gov.uk/gardenwaste.
