Sandwell's talented young people impress ITV talent search

Producers from The Voice Kids rolled into Sandwell for a showcase of talented youngsters from the SHAPE Your Talent contest.

The scheme was approached by the popular talent show after they saw the range of talented youngsters who participated in the contest on social media.

Young people sang in front of the producers, who were wowed by the talent they saw and have asked all the acts to apply to be on the show in 2019.

The showcase, which took place at Coneygre Arts Centre and was supported by Sandwell Young People’s Service, impressed the producers with the facilities and opportunities on offer to young people in Sandwell. Councillor Simon Hackett, Cabinet member for Children’s Services, who was at the showcase said:

“This is an amazing opportunity for Sandwell’s young people and I am pleased the talent we have here in Sandwell is being recognised nationally. I wish all our young people the best of luck and really hope they progress further through The Voice Kids."

Olivia was the winner from 2017 and Jaimee-Lee was a finalist this year in the SHAPE our Talent contest. They were two of the young people who took part in the showcase during the summer.
