Tickets still available for Himley's Magical Christmas Portal

There’s still chance to snap up tickets and experience the magic of Christmas at an outdoor event at Himley this month.

From Thursday 16 to Sunday 19 December families can spend a magical evening with Father Christmas, his elves and the ghost of Christmas past at the festive outdoor event.

The evening starts in the Christmas marquee. Children and families then learn about the Hall, its history and magic via a big screen before speaking to Father Christmas as he interacts with the crowd on a big screen. Then there’s a short stroll to meet the elves who will be giving out Christmas gifts and the chance to enjoy a festive food market, entertainment and vintage fairground too.

Older children or adults who just want a festive night out can come along to the markets and fair and take in the festive atmosphere. People are asked to wear a mask when visiting the stalls.

There is no need for a Covid Passport, although visitors are encouraged to take a lateral flow test before attending. The portal is an outdoor, seated event with less than 500 people at each showing in an open, well ventilated marquee with one way systems.

Hand sanitisers will be available throughout the event, and regular cleaning of the event area and toilets will take place. Staff and suppliers will be undertaking lateral flow tests before attendings and will maintain a safe, social distance throughout. Councillor Shaun Keasey, cabinet member for digital, customer and commercial services, said:

"Tickets are selling well for the Christmas Portal event, and we’re really looking forward to welcoming children and families to Himley in the run-up to Christmas.

"This is a covid-secure event and visitors can rest assured that we are following all the latest guidance to keep everyone safe, and as this is an outdoor event, you don’t need a Covid Passport to attend.

"Families can join in the festive atmosphere and speak to Father Christmas on the large interactive screen before receiving their gifts and enjoying the rest of their visit, which is open to everyone, not just those visiting the portal.

"People who feel a bit too old to visit Father Christmas can visit festive food market, fun fair, street performers, live entertainment and just enjoy a festive afternoon or evening out.”

Tickets cost £5 for adults, £10 for children aged 2 – 15 (including a gift from Father Christmas). Babies and toddlers up to 24 months are free, but no gift is available for younger children. Parking for all visitors costs £2.

The portal is open on Thursday 16 December with a choice of three time slots, Friday 17 with a choice of three time and then on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 with a choice of 9 time slots at the weekend.
